Mining communities’ dependency on resource sector employers sees them suffer at the hand of these companies’ investment decisions. Cities and town swell and contract in response to project lifecycles, and those employed in sectors outside of the dominant resources industry are hardest hit by housing, labour, and cost of living pressures.
