We need to be More than Mining! Please help change Fringe Benefits Tax to support regional mining communities

As a proud resident of [name of town or city] I am calling on the government to stop ignoring the impacts of boom-bust mining cycles on our regional mining communities.

Enough is enough.

It’s time to even the playing field and look after our regional mining communities by changing the Fringe Benefits Tax to create long-term housing affordability.

The More than Mining tax reform proposes to expand Fringe Benefits Tax from 50% to 100% for people living in regional mining communities. 

As individuals, all we are asking for is to receive the same benefits currently accessed by companies and employers in our communities, so we all have the same support to buy a house, or rent a house, with pre-tax dollars, irrespective of who our employer is.

We know that making housing more accessible in our regional mining communities will unlock a number of economic benefits in the long term, like attracting relocation, stabilising our populations, and making our export markets more competitive.

Could you please sign our petition asking the Treasurer to expand Fringe Benefits Tax concessions and support this change?

All we want is to become independent of resource-sector companies for housing and to see our cost of living normalised.
